Serious Collision on Highway 41, south of Eganville

Highway 41 was closed south of Eganville this past Tuesday after a serious multi-vehicle collision.  One person suffered fatal injuries.  Others were transported to hospital.

We are still waiting on further details, but Police allege that one driver failed to stop at a construction zone, had open alcohol in his vehicle, and refused to provide a breath sample at the scene (see CBC article here).

Our lawyers are intimately familiar with this stretch of highway.  We take it regularly to commute between our Pembroke and Kingston offices.  In fact, I was on Highway 41 the day before, returning to Pembroke after a visit to our Kingston office.

Accidents like these are a reminder of how important it is to drive sober, and to slow down and be mindful of the workers and other drivers when in a construction zone.  Countless lives have been forever changed by Tuesday’s collision.
