If you have been diagnosed with a concussion, it’s important to follow the guidance of your medical team. This will ensure that you put your issue in the past as soon as possible.
While no two people are the same, there are some concussion treatment strategies that have been proven successful across the board. Consider the following:
— Get as much sleep as possible at night, as well as plenty of rest during the day.
— Do not take part in physical activities, such as mowing the lawn or lifting weights.
— Don’t return to normal activity until your medical provider tells you it’s okay to do so.
— Make sure you know when you are permitted to return to work and don’t do so until this day.
— Do not drink alcohol until your doctor tells you it’s okay.
— Avoid long term computer use or anything else that requires you to concentrate on a screen.
— Don’t hesitate to seek follow-up care if you don’t feel that you are recovering as expected.
When you follow the advice of your medical team, you should be able to treat your concussion and overcome the symptoms soon enough. Unfortunately, there are times when this issue can drag on.
If you have suffered a concussion, such as in a motor vehicle accident, don’t wait to be treated. You never know if you could be faced with something more serious. From there, once you are stable, you can then learn more about the accident including who was responsible and if you have any legal claim.
