Edward Bergeron



Ted Bergeron is a four time Queen's University graduate with degrees in Physical Education, Arts, Education and Law.   While at Queen’s, he learned the value of teamwork as a fullback with the Queen's Golden Gaels.

Ted's legal career started in insurance defence litigation. He worked at a boutique law firm in Toronto, Iacono Brown, servicing only insurance companies.  He switched to representing only injured clients and their families in 1995. 

He has lectured extensively in the School of Rehabilitation Therapy, the School of Physical and Health Education and the Faculty of Law at Queens.  He has worked in a volunteer capacity with the Law Society of Upper Canada as an instructor in the Bar Admission Course teaching Civil Litigation.

Ted has completed coursework with the University of Toronto in Arbitration and studied advocacy for individuals with brain injury at Brock University.  He is a strong supporter of the Ontario Brain Injury Association and is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of South East Ontario.

He has successfully represented injured clients and their families in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal, Financial Services Commission of Ontario and before the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.   He has successfully managed jury trials in several Ontario counties and cities from Parry Sound to Toronto to Ottawa.

Ted joined the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association in 1994 and continues to be a member of both.  He received a Distinguished Service Award from the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association in 2004 and continues to be actively involved in that association.

Ted is a member of several county and district law associations including the Durham Law Association, Northumberland Law Association, Frontenac Law Association, Lennox & Addington Law Association, Leeds Grenville Law Association and County of Carleton Law Association.

He is a founding partner of Bergeron Estate Winery.

Christopher J. Clifford



Chris Clifford is a Queen's University graduate and former professional goaltender with the Chicago Blackhawk and Pittsburgh Penguin organizations.

Chris' legal career began with the Toronto firm of Cassels Brock and Blackwell.  He then began working for one of Eastern Ontario's top insurance defence firms - Templeman Menninga.  In the fall of 1999 Chris joined forces with Ted Bergeron and together since that time they have limited their practice to the representation of injured plaintiffs and their families.

Chris has taught at the Queen's University law school and in the St. Lawrence College law program.  He has lectured extensively and published in the areas of Civil Litigation and Insurance Law.  At the request of the Upper Canada Law Society Chris has lectured and taught in their bar admissions course.

Chris has successfully represented injured clients and their families throughout Ontario and has successfully appeared in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, the Workers Compensation Board, the Ontario Disability Support Program appeals process and in front of the Canada Pension Appeals tribunal.

Chris has been a proud supporter of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Advocates Society, the Ontario Brain Injury Association and the Canadian Paraplegic Association of Ontario. 

Michelle Large



Michelle Large

Michelle was born and raised in Niagara Falls. She graduated in 1997 from the law clerk program at Sheridan College. Michelle is an experienced and professionally trained law clerk who joined the Bergeron Clifford team in 1998. She then gained valuable knowledge working with a top personal injury lawyer in the City of Toronto focusing on a significant amount of catastrophic files.

Michelle rejoined the firm in 2002 and with over a decade of experience in the field, she has developed great strength in the ever changing field of automobile accident benefits. She dedicates considerable effort to staying on top of the latest developments in the law through her membership in the Law Clerks section of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.

She has an outstanding work ethic that marries well with her commitment to continuing education and to the individuals and families she serves at Bergeron Clifford. When she isn’t focused on work, Michelle enjoys spending time with her 2 sons, volunteering with the Parent Council at Linklater Public School and serves as a Director on the Board for Child Care United. In her spare time she also enjoys riding her wave runner with her husband in the Thousand Islands area. .



Craig Cameron



Craig joined the Bergeron Clifford team in 2004 after spending ten years as an insurance adjuster with a major national independent adjusting firm where he handled property casualty claims including investigation and settlement for Greater Toronto Airport Authority, Canadian Tire and several other regional and national insurance companies.

Craig is originally from Brockville, Ontario and graduated from Carleton University in 1991. He is currently a member of the Law Clerks section of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.

As a law clerk for Bergeron Clifford Craig has worked closely with several hundred clients and their families on a variety of different personal injury matters. When he is not working hard for the firm, Craig enjoys home renovation and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.

Mary Bergeron



Mary joined the Bergeron Clifford team in 2000 after spending several years working in a variety of different legal environments including real estate, wills and estates, corporate and family law.

As a law clerk, Mary works closely with clients. She is involved in each step of the process from initiation of the file to settlement. She is actively involved with the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association as a member of its Law Clerk section.

Mary enjoys the challenging and fast-paced environment at Bergeron Clifford. She gains satisfaction from knowing that she is able to help advance the claims of those in need. When not in the office Mary enjoys spending time with friends and working at her family-owned winery.



Daphne Drake



Daphne joined the Bergeron Clifford team in 2008. While new to the firm, Daphne is not new to the field of personal injury. Daphne has over a decade of experience working for law firms in the personal injury field since graduating from the Law Clerk program at Fanshawe College in 1995.

Her experience expands from the area of insurance defense while employed at a large law firm in London to her longest and most recent experience assisting injured clients and their families on the plaintiff end. She enjoys working side by side with clients and assisting them step by step on their journey to recovery and successful resolution to their matters.

Daphne is currently an Associate Member of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario and an active member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, Law Clerks section. While not working hard at Bergeron Clifford, Daphne enjoys spending time with her family and dogs.

Shawna Languille



Shawna is a lifelong Kingston resident who attended LaSalle Secondary School and graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Sociology. She joined Bergeron Clifford in March of 2007 and works as a legal assistant to Ted Bergeron.

In her spare time, Shawna is an active board member with the Kingston chapter of ThinkFirst, an organization which promotes safety by providing helmets and helmet education to children and adults. Shawna is an avid golfer. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her dog, Harley.

Kerri O'Hara



Kerri joined the team in March 2009. Her educational background is in Criminology. Kerri graduated from Niagara University where she played NCAA Division 1 hockey.

Since graduation she has started to compete in Horse Fairs. Her family owns 3 Standard Bred show horses. Together with her horse, Total Vision, Kerri has won the Green Horse award at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.

Deborah Garrah



Deborah Garrah was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario. Deborah attended Loyalist College in Belleville between 1989 and 1990 where she studied Recreation Leadership.

In 1992, she graduated from St. Lawrence College with a diploma in Business Management. Deborah has been working as the receptionist for Bergeron Clifford LLP since August of 2008.



Erin Briscoe



Erin was born and raised in Renfrew, Ontario, in the heart of the Ottawa Valley. The Briscoe family is a Renfrew icon, operating Briscoe’s Grocery store in the heart of town for generations. Erin’s work in the family business provided her with exceptional people skills and a sound foundation in economics.

Erin came to Kingston in 2000 and attended the Law Clerk program at St. Lawrence College. She worked for a number of years supporting Chad Carter, one of Kingston’s leading counsel in the field of mental health law following graduation. Mr. Carter’s practice provided her with opportunity to work with and gain a fuller understanding of the difficulties facing individuals grappling with mental health based disability.

Erin joined Bergeron Clifford in July of 2006. She is the voice that greets prospective clients when they call inquiring about representation. Her experience allows her to ask the necessary and relevant questions to allow our lawyers to gain an immediate appreciation of your needs. In cases of emergency, Erin will ensure that you are given an appointment with the most appropriate lawyer at the very first opportunity.

Her background and training as a law clerk make her highly efficient. When she isn’t helping new clients through the intake process, she is busy drafting court documents and correspondence, scheduling medical and legal appointments and updating medical briefs. Our medical briefs are one of our most valuable tools and Erin bears the responsibility of sorting through and organizing the thousands of pages of medical documents that come into our office every day.

Gavin Cosgrove



Gavin Cosgrove is a graduate of Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in Kingston.  Upon graduation he attended Manhattan College (New York, NY) on an athletic scholarship where he competed in track and field.  Gavin completed his legal studies at the University of New Brunswick.

Gavin articled in Kingston and joined Bergeron Clifford in the summer of 2009.

Gavin is a proud member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Frontenac Law Association.  He represents innocent victims of negligence in auto cases, medical malpractice and negligence cases.
